Hello everyone. I have another question I hope someone can answer. Can someone explaine how to do galzing with Acrylics. I know you use a Glazing Med. but how exactly do you do it. Do I put a dark layer down let it dry then put glaze or do i put the dark layer down let it dry then mix a lighter color along with the glaze med? If anyone can explaine it would be greatly appreciated. My goal is to add more depth to water. Thank You, Daniel |

Daniel, you can use glazing medium, but you can also "glaze" just fine with water. Start with a value (dark is fine), and either mix water with whatever value/hue you want to "glaze" with, or work glazing medium into the brush... then add the paint, and begin the glazing. Usually if you only use glazing med. in certain places it will be"shiny" in those areas, and not in the rest of thepainting (one reason I prefer water). I'm currently working on a very large beach/ocean/mountain commission (canvas) and am using a mix of scumbling and glazes to get the depth in the water.....it is VERY challenging.... I can relate. |
