Well folk, this time you don't have to paint recognisable objects, but set your imagination free!!!

There is no time like the present

The challenge this time is  ABSTRACT

Not everything requires an explanation to be satisfying or beautiful.

There are some very good step by step Demo's on the "Painting About "site, including using photographs for reference as a starting point if you so wish.

I do hope as many as possible take this challenge and even ......

HAVE SOME MORE FUN!!!!

This looks like fun !!!  I'm sure the "rules" must be on the site somewhere ? but can someone tell me i) if I can join in, ii) are there size restrictions? (like the cards one)? iii) do I have to sign up?  iv) where do we post them?  v) when is the closing date? and iv) is there anything else I should know?

(Sorry to be so green about these things !!!)

Cathy....what a GREAT subject:  Abstract!

My mind is ready to attempt it....now to get my paintbrushes up and running.....

Now to the "rules":

Okay, the "official" stuff......well, as official as we get in this place called SIMPLY Painting....

This CHALLENGE is open to Watercolor, Oil, pastels and Acrylics....no  computer generated pictures (I only mention this because there was some question very early on about that)

This CHALLENGE is open to ALL members....

This CHALLENGE will run for 4 weeks....the last day to enter your painting will be Thursday, September 7, 2006.

I think to make it fair, previous winners cannot be in the voting poll until 3 challenges have passed since you won.....so, basically about 5 months...

For example, Cathy can't enter again in the voting until Challenge #11...

Previous winners and those members who may not want to enter the voting poll may still post their paintings...we will have an "Honorable Mention" category...and we really want to see your paintings too!  AND those posting a painting after the dealine will also go into this category.

I feel the more paintings, the better! We can all be inspired by past winners....

Now, you can post your "WIP" (work in progress) as you go along if you like.  When you are finished be sure and say: This is IT....

Please post your WIP's and your completed painting here in this thread...

VOTING....once VOTING begins (September 8) you will send your choice to me, via private message...see the PM button at the bottom of EACH post?  Click that on MY messages and you can send ME a PM (private message).

You will get to place a First Place (3 points), Second Place (2 points) and a Third Place (1 point) vote!

Let me know if I've forgotten anything....

And thanks again, Cathy, for this very Challenging Challenge #9!

Now get your brushes out, get your creative juices flowing and......

HAVE SOME MORE FUN!!!

OW!!! Someones twisting my arm! Oh. It seems to be me.

I must give this some consideration since I have a few other commitments this month including some sort of R&R.

Oh my, this certainly is a challenge that will stretch our skills and, for some of us, definitely take us out of our comfort zone!!

Good choice, Cathy!

I am so happy this topic has beem embraced ,I must admit I was a little bit worried when I posted it.

Abstract Art does fascinate me,and there has been some interest expressed in recent times .

Yes Heather I did notice those "Messages"

Art for Joy is there to be had
